If you fancy a day out over the half term holiday we have listed our ‘Top Ten’ ideas which are within an hours drive of North Leeds. We have tried to include indoor and outdoor activities but a lot of the attractions have activities inside in case the weather doesn’t play ball (looks a bit mixed at the minute!)
With the fabulous outdoor Ice Skating Rink as well as The Enchanted Forest with large Adventure Playgrounds and the Maze to be explored there is plenty to keep the whole family busy this February half term at Stockeld Park.
They have rainy days covered with inflatables in the indoor play area, plus crafts, games, disco on ice (selected days only) & building fun in the Stockeld Rangers den.

Families are being encouraged to pull on their wellies, grab the waterproofs, jump in giant muddy puddles and take part in the Mud & Machines Trail around the garden at Harlow Carr this February half term. Special events during the week include:
- Have your photo taken with a giant digger from 11am – 3pm, Monday to Friday
- Muddy craft activities – Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10.30am – 3.30pm.
- Tales from the Garden Detectives from 10.30am – 3.30pm on Tuesdays.
- Thursday 15 February, why not take part in a Worm Day? Learn how to entice worms from underground with the worm charmers and make your own wormery from 11am – 3pm.
- Friday 16th, make a marvellous mud pie in the Great British Mud Pie Off from 10.30am – 3pm.

There’s loads of undercover fun including Lambing Live (if you’re lucky you might even see one being born), tractor trailer rides, animal petting barn with Piglet Maternity Ward and lots more.
BALE PLAY BAAARN
Plus, explore the Bale Play Baaarn…with straw bale mountain, junior tractor drivers’ area, giant drop slide, rope swing and dig’n’play.
SHEEP SHOW LIVE STAGE SHOW
Featuring dancing sheep, The Sheep Show is EDU-tainment at its best. Presented in a humorous style, the show introduces the kids to 4 different breeds of sheep, each with a story to tell, and they are welcomed on to the stage by their own theme tunes. ‘Lenny the Lincoln Longwool’ arrives to a great Bob Marley tune (very apt for a sheep that has natural dreadlocks).

During February half term Cannon Hall Farm will welcome new lambs as well as a packed programme of entertainment including, daily talks from the shepherds about the lambs and sheep, lamb bottle-feeding demonstrations. There will also be the usual farm fun such as tractor trailer rides plus sheep and ferret racing, milking demos, shire horse talks and meerkat feeding sessions. If the weather isn’t great you can always shelter in the soft play centre.

Watch the extinct come back to life this February Half Term at Tropical Butterfly House. Enjoy the dinosaur trail, meet the T-Rex and his Dino Keeper, take a Dino Selfie, enter the fancy dress competition, enjoy dinosaur crafts and games plus a full day of animal encounters including talks on meerkats, otters, lemurs, exotic animals, and an extra special bird and animal display.

This February, join courageous caveman Dug and his trusty sidekick Hognob for a mammoth half term full of free activities and events. Visit the cinema to watch the film (ticket charges apply), get hands-on making your favourite characters out of clay, and design a catapult to help Dug escape from Lord Nooth!

Roll up! Roll up! Tumble down to Eureka! to celebrate 250 years since the creation of the CIRCUS!
There will be thrills and spills, including regular sessions from circus performers and entertainers, including fire juggler, street performer and entertainer extraordinaire The Great Mandavi!
Meet the Eureka! Ringmaster and visit the Big Top to try your hand at a range of circus skills including plate-spinning, stilt walking and event taking a few steps on a tightrope!

Follow the trail from the Cavendish Shop and solve the mystery of the dish and the spoon and discover why it is thought that the popular nursery rhyme ‘Hey Diddle Diddle’ originated at Bolton Abbey.
Admission is £10 per vehicle, payable on arrival at the car park kiosk (Riverside car park), where trail sheets will be distributed.

Visit the farm at one of the busiest times of the year, the lambing shed will be filled with expectant ewes ready to give birth. Help bottle feed a pet lamb and if you are lucky witness a sheep giving birth! Entrance includes access to the lambing shed, small area of the farm yard and also the woodland walk.
Please note that this event is NOT suitable for pregnant women.

Visit the National Railway Museum for an out-of-this-world half term adventure from 10th–18th February to ponder the wonders of space, get up close to Tim Peake’s Spacecraft and take part in free hands-on activities dedicated to space-age engineering.
