10 ideas for days out over February Half Term within an hours drive of North Leeds
If you fancy a day out over the half term holiday we have listed our ‘Top Ten’ ideas which are within an hours drive of North Leeds. We have tried to include indoor and outdoor activities but a lot of the attractions have activities inside in case the weather doesn’t play ball.
1. February Half Term Family Fun at RHS Harlow Carr – Family Fun Whatever the Weather
Children can enjoy a range of fun all-weather activities including a chance to make weather wheels, wind socks during half term, and discover more about the wild weather of the UK on a daily garden trail. The garden detectives will also be sharing their weather-inspired stories and have left a trail in the garden for you to explore and learn.
Featuring a fully covered outdoor real ice rink, a cosy Skate Escape visitor café together with a range of themed rides and attractions suitable for all ages. A weekly Penguin Club especially for young skaters, ice skating lessons and accessible sessions, you are sure to find something fun to do on the ice for all the family!

The Indoor funfair returns to Harrogate this February Half Term. This fantastic family orientated event includes all your family favourites including the Waltzers, Dodgems, Cup and Saucers, Fun House, Inflatable Slide with rides for all ages of the family.
There is no need to worry how many times the children wish to ride as for £10 they can go on as many times as they can within the 3 hour sessions that are daily 10am-1pm 2pm-5pm

Get active in the Yorkshire fresh air and whizz around the real ice-rink, it’s covered so you can skate in any weather!
Venture into the Forest and take on the four, large Adventure Playgrounds that are guaranteed fun for all. Get lost in the maze whilst discovering some playful surprises or join in on the indoor fun and jump on the indoor pillow and play on the inflatable slide!

5. Grasshoppers at Tong Garden Centre
Grass Hoppers is a safe and secure play space for families set in the grounds of Tong Garden Centre. You’ll find a huge outdoor adventure playground and a large indoor play area where children up to the age of 10 years old can enjoy proper playtime!
The indoor play area includes a bespoke play frame equipment with slides, swings, rope bridges and tunnels, challenge decks and a mirror infinity deck and sport’s court! There is a separate zone for babies and toddlers including a role play and big interactive piano for everyone to enjoy! The outdoor play area includes Jumping Pillow’s, Giant Sandpit, Water Play, Race Track, Zip Wire, Adventure Play Area and under 4’s pre-school area with playhouses and outdoor toys.
Explore the exciting new exhibit featuring Red lionfish, Dog faced pufferfish, Leopard moray eels and more! Learn about how climate change is affecting our oceans and what this means for the animals who live there. Take part in the ocean acidification challenge, and find out how carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is affecting our sea creatures. There is also a family activity trail, interactive presentations at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, as well as face painting in the Craft Corner from 11am to 4pm.

Go Ape Temple Newsam has everything you need to keep your tribe entertained this half-term, from Treetop Challenge, Treetop Adventure+ and Treetop Adventure – offering varying levels of high wire fun for the whole family.
8. Diggerland – The Ultimate Adventure Park Experience!
Diggerland re-opens in time for February half term! With its 20 different rides and drives and an array of additional activities is the ideal theme park for all ages. Get to grips with real JCBs and 180/360 excavators, take a head-reeling turn or two on the Spindizzy, rise to lofty heights and enjoy the views on the Skyshuttle, enjoy an off-road ride on the Groundshuttle, or have a go on the Dodgems and Go-Karts!
Love is in the air at Lotherton as they celebrate the wonderful birds at Wildlife World this February half term.
Learn more about our Humboldt penguins, take part in feathered crafts and follow the Love Birds trail. In the Nestbox Education Centre take part in bird care creations, make a bird box or bird feeder to take home for your garden, daily 11am to 3pm.

10. Creepy Crawlies, Web Adventure Park
Creepy Crawlies is the indoor play area within the park. Filled with separate Play Zones incorporating baby and toddler areas, sports arena, disco area, ball cannons and a huge play frame for over fives. They also have a new baby area to allow the little ones their own space.
Outside they have a High Ropes Course which comprises of 22 activities of varying difficulty all of which are designed to test your nerve and ability.
