Childcare in North Leeds North Leeds

Pre-Schools in North Leeds

Pre-Schools usually offer sessional care for children from the age of 2 to 5. They often work only in term-time, and in most cases offer funded provision for 3 and 4 year olds. They will be OFSTED registered and you can usual pay for top up sessions if you need more than the funded sessions. These are often but not always attached to a school although attendance does not guarantee a place at the primary school.

Located just off Cardigan Road, our welcoming family-run nursery is situated in extensive leafy grounds just two minutes walk from Burley Park train station.

Open all year round 7.30am – 6.00pm for children from six weeks to five years

15 hour and 30 hour funded places available, now offering a unique Flexi-Day pass

Recently refurbished with eco-friendly wooden play equipment, our spacious airy setting is filled with natural light. Through a range of stimulating activities and ‘in the moment’ play, your child will follow the EYFS curriculum, the key areas of learning essential for their early years development. We have free flow between our indoor and outdoor spaces so children can head outside to explore, building confidence and creating an understanding of the world around them.

Spending lots of time outdoors has proven benefits to children’s health and development and our beautiful garden sets us apart. Surrounded by mature trees, our garden teaches us about the changing seasons, the animals and insects we share it with, and provides endless opportunities for art activities. We have our own nursery greenhouse where we grow fruit and vegetables and our covered play area allows for all-weather play on cars and bikes. Mealtimes are an important social occasion. Our in-house cook prepares a nutritionally balanced menu of seasonal dishes and healthy snacks.

We’d love to show you around, please get in touch!

The Gatehouse Nursery is a purpose-built, stand-alone facility set within the grounds of Gateways School, a highly successful independent school for boys and girls, in Harewood village, north of Leeds.

Children aged 2 and 3 can attend The Gatehouse, which opens from 7.30am until 6pm. Our nursery is a bright, welcoming space with an indoor and outdoor area.

Learning through discovery is our key focus and we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum. With a ratio of 4 children to 1 member of staff, we ensure that each child receives the individual attention they need at this important stage of their development.

Children also have access to the whole school facilities including our extensive grounds, a play area, dance studio and sports hall.

Once they are 3 years old, children can start Littlegates, which houses Pre-Reception and Reception children.  A carefully structured teaching programme combined with a learning environment which promotes independence, critical thinking and a lifelong love of learning, ensures children have a solid educational start.

Our outstanding Early Years provision has been recognised for 2 years in a row at the National Nursery World Awards where we have been finalists in the ‘Best Early Years Provision in School’ category.  This means we are one of the top 3 providers in the country for Early Years Provision within a school!
