Countryside Live is the perfect day out for families, with a cookery theatre, live performances, animals, shopping and a Create & Explore area with hands-on activities for children. FREE face painters will be on hand to turn the little ones into their favourite character. Join in with circus skills and watch your children’s excited faces as they learn to throw a diabolo and juggle bean bags or watch the wool spinners fast at work.
From kneading dough to having a go at making the perfect sausage, there will be lots of opportunities for the younger ones to get hands on and learn where their food comes from and how it’s made. Get up close and meet a variety of animals including farm animals, newly hatched chicks, alpacas plus some more exotic creatures and bugs. There will also be arena displays including birds of prey, sheep dog and ducks and even the chance to race against a ferret!

As well as family activities, there are 2,000 animals who converge on the showground over the two days to compete. From horses to honey, pigs to poultry, sheep to cattle, pigeons to rabbits there are competitions and classes throughout the weekend. Elsewhere there’s birds of prey displays, hundreds of stands to browse, horticultural classes and farriery competitions.
Special guests will include Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen on the Saturday (October 20) and Peter Wright of Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet on the Sunday (October 21).
Double Olympic British Show Jumper Geoff Billington will make his debut when he wows crowds with a breath-taking display in the indoor equine arena.
