Medieval Easter at Royal Armouries 2020

April 4, 2020 - April 19, 2020

4th – 19th April 2020, 10am-5pm

In June 1520 King Henry VIII and the French king, Francis I, met in France for one of the most lavish and ambitious diplomatic and sporting events in history – The Field of Cloth of Gold.

To mark the 500th anniversary of this, the ultimate display of Tudor power and glory, we will be bringing history to life with a brand new exhibition, a season of spectacular, action-packed events, including our magnificent jousting tournament.

These events will feature costumed characters, combats, talks & tours plus lots of have-a-go activities, giving you the perfect opportunity to get your hands on history.

The path to power

Our Tudor Power and Glory season begins with the Tudors on their road to power. Discover through thrilling live combat demonstrations and dramatic performances how this mighty dynasty seized the English throne.

Our medieval Easter events will give you the chance to get your hands on history and learn some new skills in have-go-archery and sword fighting sessions, and the museum’s own men-at-arms will be demonstrating armoured combat techniques with poll-axes and two-handed swords.
