This year’s Roundhay and Oakwood Festival will host a variety of exciting events across the North Leeds area. Sponsored by Southlands, part of Westward Care and the Roundhay Councillors and organised by OTRA (Oakwood Trader’s Residents Association).
Family-friendly Activities and Events Include:
27th October: Puppet Show, 3.30-5.30pm – Puppet Kingdom will perform an interactive puppet show featuring a fantastic variety of puppets that will take children on an enchanting journey, followed by a puppet making workshop. Free event. St Edmunds Scout Hut.
29th October: Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants Storytime, 2-2.30pm – A fun, free storytime celebrating Nick Sharratt’s books, bursting with lots of rhyme, rhythm and energy. Free event. Oakwood Library.
29th October: A Monster Mix, 2.30-3.30pm – Join in the fun with a Nick Sharratt monster mix of creative crafty activities. Fancy dress encouraged. Free event. Oakwood Library.
29th, 30th, 31st October: Pumpkin Carving Event, 10am-4.30pm – Carve your own pumpkin (pre -scooped) in the Conservatory at The Mansion. £3.50 per pumpkin, 50p will go Simon on the Streets.
30th October: Mix Art with Technology, 10-11.30am – Control and programme the robotic toy, Sphero to paint and create your own masterpiece. Suitable for ages 7+. Oakwood Library. Booking required
30th October: Learn how to Linocut with local artist Chloe Smith, 1-4pm – Learn basic techniques for making a lino-cut print. Bring an old t-shirt/apron. Stew & Oyster, Roundhay Road
30th October: Pumpkin Carving, 1-4pm – Carve your own pumpkin from £2 a pumpkin, bring your own design or use stencils provided. Stew & Oyster, Roundhay Road
31st October: Family Fun Morning, 10m-12pm – Free activities for primary and pre-school children at Roundhay Parochial Hall
31st October: Halloween at Jackrabbits, All day – Every child painting on 31st October will have a trick or treat lucky dip, with prizes if you come in fancy dress!
31st October: Spell Book and Wand Workshop with ARTventurers, 10-11am – A Harry Potter themed children’s craft workshop. £8 ticket (book via ARTventurers website), fancy dress optional. Suitable for ages 6+. Tasty Cafe, Roundhay Road
31st October: Halloween Fun at the Bumps, 4-6pm – Dress up in your best witches/ghost/ ghouls outfit and be ready to scare! Enjoy Apple bobbing, face painting and treasure hunt. Free event. ‘The Bumps’ park located between West Park Avenue and West Park Close, Roundhay. Bring a torch.
2nd November: Family Friendly Friday, 6-9pm – Enjoy a relaxed family friendly evening at Gledhoe Sports and Social Club. Free event
Oakwood Scarecrow Competition: Throughout the week there will be a Halloween themed scarecrow competition to be judged by local children. There will be a prize for the business with the best dressed window. Pick up your leaflet and enter the prize draw Oakwood Solicitors,
