Centre Parcs Sherwood Forest

“The original centre parcs and in a lot of ways starting to show its age with facilities starting to look a little dated and in need of a revamp and other onsite developments ongoing. Lacks the ability to pay by wristband like Woburn. But still a very good family holiday with lots to do and if you hadn’t been to the others you wouldn’t notice the shortcomings. Only thing to avoid is the swimming pool changing rooms between 2.30 and 3.30 – absolutely manic, although the pool was relatively quiet and this was even in the week in term time.

Overall a lovely family holiday unaffected by the weather but starting to showing its age and better more modern alternatives are available. Can get pricey if you do a lot of activities and eat out a lot.”

Centre Parcs Woburn

“The newest of the parcs and everything very fresh and new with lots of improvements learnt from the other parcs. Wrist bands that you can pay for things with, which is brilliant in the pool. Cabins laid out a bit like Ramsay Street but clean and tidy and have everything you need for the week. Activities really good but don’t get carried away; 1 activity a day plus swimming which is free, is more than enough otherwise you can run up a large bill. Plenty of choice of food on site from a variety of outlets but predominantly on the fast food side and always good with quick service, but expensive enough. If you are so minded the cabin kitchen is perfectly good for preparing your own food and there is an on site supermarket for essentials. We never left the site all week as plenty to do and had friends come and visit. We were there in term time so predominantly families with preschool children like ourselves and a 1,500 person conference which was ideal as the parc was full but the conference weren’t using any facilities and kept themselves to themselves. The ultimate family holiday in the U.K that isn’t effected by the weather but it can get pricey with activities and restaurants etc if you are not careful.”

Crieff Hydro Hotel, Crieff, Perth

“A very traditional activity based hotel now with additional log cabins. The fore runner to centre parcs. Far more traditional and laid back than centre parcs with less of the hard sell and set in incredibly beautiful surroundings even in Feb. Lots of local attractions to visit and on the edge of Crieff which is a short downhill walk away (uphill on way back). Lots of activities predominantly outdoors for children none of which were particularly expensive and some free. Conventional indoor pool with a slide which was ideal for getting little ones going as never busy. Good crèche and babysitting service. Rooms traditional, functional and clean, staff extremely helpful. A variety of foods are available from a number of different restaurants etc to suit all tastes from French cuisine, traditional afternoon tea to spaghetti hoops. We were there in term time so there were plenty of families with small children like us, then business conferences and pensioners coach trips so very quiet and laid back no noisy bars or discos.”

Forest Holidays Keldy

Follow the forest road as it drops deep into the wooded valley; feel the calm of the forest wrap itself around you, and listen… silence. This is Keldy, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. If ever there was a place to feel that special magic of the forest, it is here, a paradise of sunlit glades, tumbling crystal clear brooks and shy woodland creatures.

Forest Holidays’ Keldy cabins blend delightfully into their woodland surroundings, some hidden beneath the trees and others opening out onto soft grassy glades. Warm and welcoming, in an idyllic woodland setting, they provide a peaceful haven from the world outside. Children and teenagers will love lounging in your private  hot tub and once the little ones are in bed and the teenagers back indoors on their phones, pour a glass of Champagne and enjoy the hot tub to yourselves. And our pet friendly cabins mean you can bring your dog too!
