We should be getting excited now about going away as an extended family for Grandmas 70th birthday but plans have been put on hold for a year. I suspect a lot of people have done this. With no real indication on when social distancing will come to an end is your summer holiday also at risk? None of us actually know, and hopefully, by the time summer comes around, we might be back to normality. That said, all holiday plans for May Half Term are out of the window. So we’ve put our heads together to come up with some brilliant staycation ideas!
Yes, we cant go camping but that doesn’t mean we cannot camp! Mrs Mumbler HQ got her kids out camping in the back yard earlier this week, a fire burning, she even managed to get them to eat some of the weird and wonderful tinned goods we’ve all been buying recently! We set up camp in the living room – A few sheets over the old playhouse frame and a blow-up bed with some torches did the trick! We’ve also heard of people with camper vans and caravans spending a night out on the front-drive!
We are always a big fan of Deershed at Mumbler and unfortunately, it cannot go ahead this year. But there are so many things we can do to create the festival vibes! Get the face paints and fancy dress on, see above for some camping ideas and then watch highlights of your favourite festivals online! You can catch most festivals on YouTube, or take a look at the BBC iplayer for some great Glastonbury highlights! Big Fish Little Fish do weekly Sunday Kitchen raves, me and my little girl have been enjoying these – we even got out in the sunshine last week and had a garden rave – proper Festival Sunday afternoon vibes!
We’ve written a few blogs about this! You can spend the whole week in Disney Land, a day trip to London or even a virtual trip to a Local Attraction including Stump Cross Caverns!
Beach vibes in the Garden!
We had great fun creating our own seaside this weekend! It might not be Costa Del Sol temperatures just yet, but that shouldn’t stop us! Get the paddling pool out, get the plastic slide going into it, get the sandpit out and voila you’ve got your very own water park! You don’t need a massive garden just space for a towel and a bit of water! Get the BBQ going, tunes and swimwear on and you’ll forget you are only in the back garden!
Skiing in the garden
Honestly, it can be done! Check out this brilliant video!
Stay safe, stay home. We’ll have plenty of time to go on holiday in the future!
