Jemma, the founder of Tiny Boo, an under 5’s imaginative playspace opening in the HEART Centre in Headingley tells us more about what her new venture will include and her motivations for setting up the new space for families in North Leeds.
Tiny Boo was borne from that steep learning curve that is maternity leave! And, as I’m sure it does to many, it changed me as a person. Something I said would never happen pre-child! Everything is relative to your own journey as a parent, and everyone will have their highs and their lows. But through it all, support is key and not all parents have this.
As I learnt, every parent has a different story, a different background, but all have the same end goal… a healthy, happy child.
I realised that Headingley wasn’t the best at supporting these needs, so I had an idea….
An easy on the eye play space! Somewhere where mums can enjoy a coffee and the experience is for everyone, not just the kids! A friendly place where parents can come to meet other parents, where no judgement will be cast and you can talk to other adults.
Tiny Boo will focus on exploratory and imaginative play for children under the age of 5 with an aim to improve the health and well-being of new families along the way.
The play structure will take on the theme of a home. There will be lots of pretend play for the little ones to get carried away with and there will also be plenty of sensory engaging play for babies.
There will also be a small shop supporting ethical and eco-friendly businesses with a range of handcrafted and sustainable toys, décor and gifting… because who has the time to nip into town for that last minute present with a child in tow?
You can just come to enjoy a cuppa whilst your little ones enjoy the play or you can join in at one of our weekly groups.

Bumps and Babies, Monday’s 9am

Becoming Mum – starting in January 2019
Antenatal Classes led by midwives and trained professionals will take you through the stages of pregnancy and labour and what to expect from your body. There will be a session on the much talked about 4th trimester, which traditional classes may touch on but perhaps not deliver the skills and knowledge parents need to be confident through this stage. For more details on classes click here.
Tiny Boo will also be available for exclusive use from just £75 for parties and occasions.
Entry will be £5, with additional siblings £3 each. You can play for as long you wish, but as we are only small, with a capacity for just 18 little ones a 2-hour limit will be required at busy times.
The launch party will take place on the 16th November, more details here.
There will be 4 two hour slots running during the launch event –
9am – 11am
11am – 1pm
1pm – 3pm
3pm – 5pm
Each slot has 18 child spaces, allowing for one accompanying adult per child.
10 of these spaces are available for booking and will the places will be held for 15 minutes after the time slot begins. The remaining 8 will be available on the day.
Tiny Boo will be situated inside the Headingley Enterprise and Arts Centre, Bennett Road
