And now for the fun part…. supercharge your pancakes the Stir Krazy Kids way!
Here’s some suggestions for making this Pancake Day the most memorable yet!
We’ve all seen those pancake fails on social media, but our simple solution to pancake shapes is a sure-fire way to impress the little ones. Simply pop the mixture into a pourable container, such as a measuring jug, then carefully pour it into an empty (and thoroughly cleaned out!) old squeezy ketchup bottle, or similar, with a small nozzle. When the pan is at the right temperature, simple squeeze the mixture out of the bottle and into the pan, into simple shapes such as hearts or your children’s’ initials. Keep the shapes simple and you can’t go wrong!
If the thought of making pancake creations sends shivers down your spine, check out some of the amazing pancake moulds on Amazon. From frogs to faces, there are plenty of options still available, arriving in plenty time for the big day.
Use food colouring to bring a taste of the rainbow to your pancakes this year. For ultimate impact, split your mixture into two or three batches and give each one a different colour, then serve them together for a feast for the eyes! To add a more subtle splash of colour, add sprinkles to the pancake just after tossing, then sprinkle over again as you serve.
If all else fails, use fruit toppings to make faces, shapes or letters. It’s a bit of fun, and a portion of five a day!
Shrove Tuesday is on Tuesday 25th February 2020.
