As school and gym closures leave many families at home looking for activities to entertain their children, the dedicated team at The Little Gym has been busy filming content to bring their fantastic class experience online. With different classes to suit a range of ages from 4 months to 12 years, The Little Gym at Home will keep children moving, learning and having fun, The Little Gym way.
The first online classes were released last week and have so far had an amazing 12,000 views on The Little Gym UK YouTube channel. Another 4 new lessons have been released today with more to come next week.
The Little Gym at Home includes the same class elements that children know, love and experience at The Little Gym each week but are practiced in the comfort of your own home. With community being more important than ever at the moment, The Little Gym at Home is available to everyone, not just regular members. The Little Gym social media pages are also full of ideas to keep little ones moving, learning and having fun – a welcome distraction at this difficult and worrying time.
Classes this week:
Parent & Child ages 4-18 months
In this Parent and Child class, Courtney explores gymnastics-based activities to develop the vestibular sense for babies. This sense is also known as the balance control centre and develops through lots of rotations and spinning. The vestibular system acts as the body’s patrol officer: it receives all the information that bombards our brains, interprets it, processes it and directs it to the right sense. Movement keep this system alert, a wake and in gear.
Parent & Child 19 months to 3 years
In this Parent and Child class, Sejal also explores gymnastics-based activities to develop the vestibular sense but for toddlers. A great way for parents to learn more about the importance of movement in children.
Pre-school 3-6 years
In this week’s class for pre-school kids, head to The Little Zoo for an animal adventure with teacher Jade. Get your bodies ready to shake and move as we learn how to jump like a monkey or kick like a donkey through this virtual gymnastics lesson.
Primary School 6-12 years
Our activity for primary aged children this week is a gymnastics boot camp. Teacher Jess has designed a class experience to keep your child moving, learning and keeping fit at home. Join her for her boot camp challenge!
