Things to do at home in Tier 4: Tips and Ideas of activities and things to do in Tier 4 or Lockdown
Being stuck at home due to Tier 4 or Lockdown is not how any of us imagined entering 2021. But don’t worry too much; here are some ideas on how you can keep entertained at home to make sure that you can still have fun in lockdown.
Go on an Outdoor Adventure!
If you have children, make sure you don’t call it a walk! Keep it fun by making it into an adventure
Find the perfect picnic spot, and try to make it more interesting than sandwiches! Can you take a camping stove or trangia and make a meal on the go? Find picnic lunch ideas here.
Scavenger hunts are a great way to keep little ones entertained…. and dont forget to collect supplies for nature crafts!
If you need some inspiration on how to make walks for children more fun read this post.
Have a look at what local cafes are offering for takeaways so you can combine your adventure with supporting your local businesses.
Make use of outdoor facilities
In tier 4 you’re allowed to use outdoor facilities at parks, such as playgrounds, skate parks and tennis courts. Have a look at what’s available and get booked on.
Plan some themed days
In the first lockdown our family had a number of at home adventures… fancy dress, appropriate movie and Themed Meals compulsory
Perhaps this January is not the time to start a diet! Get creative with meal times, try new foods and build them into your themed days. Make an effort with getting dressed up or build games into your meal times.
Plan a Family Party
What better excuse for a family party than lockdown! Cheesy Music, Flashing lights, Kareoke (?!?) and a nice long list of Festive Games for children that you could play too! Sprinkle in some extra fun with a bubble machine, party poppers and streamers! For small children make it GLOW with glow sticks and a disco ball!
Staying up late? Make a night of it by building dens in your lounge and having a family sleepover.
Use any services of local businesses
If you can afford to, look at what businesses are still operating under current restrictions and book in some treats. Ideas such as;
Many restaurants may be offering takeaway options or virtual experiences
Hot tub hire,
Home cinema hire
Children’s entertainers who are offering doorstep visits
Schedule some Facetime/ Zoom Calls with your Family and Friends
Make sure that you plan some times in advance- it gives you something to look forward to! If you have other friends and family with children, use the time to play some games. One of the best ones if shouting out an object that you have in the house, and the first person to return to the screen with that object gets a point. My daughter LOVES playing this!! Dust off all those quiz skills that you gained during full lockdown and do a HUGE family quiz! Want more suggestions of easy virtual games? Read this post.
