Using nutrition to support pregnancy and women’s health
There are many times across our lives where our nutritional needs change. From needing more iron to compensate for periods, managing glucose and testosterone levels in PCOS, to fertility and pregnancy changes, right up to the menopause, women’s bodies change a lot. And in each of these stages, nutritional requirements change. Add in the never-ending cycle of fad diets that get thrown our way, it is no wonder that many of us feel lost. As many as two thirds of UK adults reported being on a diet “most of the time”. Instead, learn how to improve your nutrition without further diet cycling.
Why should I look for support with nutrition?
Working with a Registered Nutritionist can help to cut through these myths and give you the support and knowledge that you need, especially during pregnancy. Did you know that both parents can support their health and fertility through nutrition before conception? If you are confused about whether to take folate or folic acid, want to understand eating for two, or what the food safety guidelines are, booking a consultation can set your mind at ease.
Whilst there are many reasons to speak to a Registered Nutritionist or Dietitian, in pregnancy rapid changes can feel especially challenging. As you move through the trimesters, your body grows and its needs change as nutrients are metabolised at different rates. Receive support in consultations throughout your pregnancy to work around food cravings and aversions, being aware of conditions that may impact your experience and even advice on gentle movement as your approach the end of your pregnancy. Further help is available for postpartum and fourth trimester changes too.
