Brimham Rocks Adventure Farm: Halloween Activities

Fly along to our spooktactular Halloween & Pumpkin Festival at Brimham Rocks Adventure Farm over October Half Term. We have lots going on including:

  • Witch and Wizard School
  • Pick your own pumpkin from the patch – with thousands to choose from you can carve your pumpkin onsite
  • Slime making with our crazy scientist.

Fancy dress is encouraged for parents and children and there will be spot prizes throughout each day.

Don’t forget if you planted your pumpkin at our Sow & Grow event back in spring, bring it along, carve it with us and be in with a chance to WIN a years family pass for the largest pumpkin (T&C’s apply).

We will also have a Hog Roast on the weekend of the 27th October and the weekend of the 3rd November plus lots of themed treats in the café. Harrogate Indoor Funfair this October Half Term

27th October – 4th November 2018

The Yorkshire Event Centre will be transformed into an indoor funfair ensuring that whatever the weather it won’t ruin your plans or dampen your spirits!

At Harrogate’s 1st Indoor Funfair you can expect to find all your favourites including Dodgems, Waltzers, the Matterhorn, Applecoaster, Chair ‘O’ Planes, Balloons, Cup and Saucer, an Inflatable Play Centre plus many more as well as prize-winning games stalls (extra charges apply) including Hook a Duck and Whack a Minion!

The funfair runs every day from 27th October until 4th November, 11am – 6pm, during this time two sessions are available, 11am-2pm then 3pm-6pm.   Food and drink is available from the Yorkshire Event Centre’s onsite café and there is free parking.

Tickets are available to purchase for £10pp (under 3’s free) as well as non rider tickets for £2. As the ticket suggests – you can’t ride with a non-rider ticket. You can purchase tickets via the Harrogate Indoor Funfair Facebook Page or you can also pay on the door.

Mother Shipton’s Halloween – Enchanted Forest

27th October – 4th November 2018, 10am -4.30pm

Journey through Mother Shipton’s Enchanted Forest to break the Witch’s curse. Come in your best Halloween costumes for the daily costume competition at 2pm.

Actors will be stationed as characters in the park to interact with children and help families complete a themed adventure trail. Fun for all the family every day Saturday 27th October to Sunday 4th November. The Park opens 10am to 4.30pm (last admission 3.30pm). October Half Term at Leeds Museums and Galleries

Visit Leeds Museums & Galleries this October half term holiday for a fun-filled day out, plus fangtastic family Halloween events at a number of attractions.

  • Annual Orchard Week (27th October – 4th November) at Thwaite Mills Watermill, there will be apple themed activities throughout the week.
  • Leeds City Museum is taking inspiration from its Beavers to Weavers exhibition with crafty creatures activities from 30th October – 2nd November. Flock to the museum and learn how to build like a beaver, nest like a bird or construct like a termite.
  • Enjoy a mystery matinee every day at Leeds Industrial Museum. Family favourites and classic films will be screened throughout the week at only £9 for a family of five, bargain!
  • Abbey House Museum has a sinister special FX session for teens on 27th October; a professional make-up artist will provide the tools to create truly gruesome Halloween make up and special effects. Little ones can join in with Halloween activities on 30th and 31st October in the seriously spooky Victorian Streets.
  • Lotherton’s Spooky Scarecrow Trail is back and better than ever from 27th October – 4th November, now with extended opening times for eerie evening visits with older children. Spot the scarecrows around the estate, visit the brand new Skeletown to see the scary side of the Wild West and take part in chilling craft activities.
  • You can scare yourselves silly at Temple Newsam this year, visit the darkened haunted house and fiendish farm animals. We’ll be telling tales of petrifying past residents and there will be spooky crafts, plus terrifying treats to collect along the way.
  • Leeds Industrial Museum will be ‘Putting the Happy in Halloween’ from 30th October – 1st November, discover the real stories behind Halloween and take part in jack-o’-lantern and willow wand making sessions each day.
  • Kirkstall Abbey will hosting a ‘not so scary’ scarecrow trail between 30th October – 4th November around the abbey ruins and play a game of spooky hide and seek with the little ones.
  • Leeds Discovery Centre, will be holding Spooky Tours under the cover of darkness, so bring along your battery powered candles on 31st October to see some of our most gruesome objects!

Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants Library October Half Term Workshops

Throughout the autumn half term, Leeds Libraries will offer a number of FREE events for children and families inspired by the Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants – The Illustrated World of Nick Sharratt exhibition currently on show at Central Library.

Across North Leeds, children will be able to take part in a number of fun activities, such as creating monster pants, flipbooks, zines and masks that are brought to life through an augmented reality app. Look out for these Monster Mix events at the following libraries:

Birchfield Pumpkin Festival – Harrogate

Pumpkin picking open: 6th -31st October 2018

Bolton Abbey Pumpkin Trail

Follow the trail of over-sized pumpkins through Strid Wood and discover the mystery doors hidden among the trees. Behind each door is a clue to help unravel the witch’s magical spell. With a fun new surprise awaiting you at The Strid, it will be worth the journey to get there!

Bolton Abbey Welly Walk

Enjoy a free woodland adventure trail from the Stepping Stones to the Cavendish Pavilion. The walk includes balance beams, wobbly stirrups, tunnels, scramble nets, the maze and many more obstacles! Appropriate footwear and change of clothes advised.  

This is a family event, there’s no minimum age to participate. However, the path is steep in places, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Children must be supervised at all times.

World War Week at The Royal Armouries

Pick n’ Pimp Your Pumpkin Festival by Sneaky Experience

The Sneaky Experience spooky characters will be on hand to help you choose your own pumpkin at Kirkstall Abbey. Once you’ve picked your precious pumpkin, take it off to the pimping station ready to paint, prettify and make perfect with all the marvellous crafty bits n bobs at your disposal.

Pimp Your Pumpkin at The Cafe Bar at Meanwood Park

The Cafe Bar at Meanwood Park will be running a ‘Pimp Your Pumpkin’ stall, there will be staff on hand to assist you and your children in decorating your pumpkins, whilst you enjoy a coffee, a cake or a mulled wine!

Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants: The Illustrated World of Nick Sharatt

Running until 25th November 2018

Visit Leeds Central Library to immerse yourselves in Nick’s world! In this Arts council funded exhibition you can find out about his childhood and what inspired him to become an illustrator, and meet a host of characters that he has created throughout his career.

There are plenty of fun things to see and do in the exhibition, including a reading room where visitors can sit and enjoy a wealth of books that Nick has written and illustrated.

Pumpkin Picking at the Horsforth Pick Your Own

19th  – 31st October 2018, 10 am – 5pm (last entry 4.30pm)

Thousands of pumpkins to choose from!  No entry charge, you pay for all the pumpkins you pick.  From a Standard £2.50 up to a Jumbo £7.50

Face painters will be there from 20th – 31st Oct, pumpkin carving with stencil and sticker kits will be available in the carving tent and there will be tractor and trailer rides at weekends. (Keep an eye on the Facebook for other dates when the tractor drivers are available). Other activities will also be highlighted separately on Facebook.

Spooky Play Sessions with Leeds Play Network at St Johns Centre Leeds

Spooky Scarecrow Trail Kirkstall Abbey
