Relay Race
Split the family into teams and have a member of each team search for one egg at a time. Once they’ve found one, they bring it back to the basket and tag the next family member to find one. You can also do this as one big team, where you take it in turns.
Scavenger Hunt
Why not create a scavenger hunt to keep everyone entertained. Get them to find things of different colours, shapes, textures. You can make it Easter or Spring themed, or anything to easily suit your needs. Depending on the length it could keep your family entertained for hours!
Markers and Trails
Make the hunt a bit more exciting by making Easter shaped markers and bunny feet to dot around the garden. Create bunny, carrot or egg markers with words like ‘Look Left’ or ‘Over here’ and place feet around the garden to help guide the hunters to the right place.
Forfeit Hunt
Get everyone up and moving, where they find simple instructions like ‘Do a Cartwheel’, ‘Sing the Alphabet’, Tell a joke’ or ‘Quack like a Duck’. Tailor the instructions to suit your family and get everyone to have a go!
Exercise Hunt
Similar to Forfeits, you could create a selection of exercised to get the family moving about and working off the excess chocolate; from forward rolls, to jumping jacks, to bunny hops!
Egg Hunt Trophies
Once all the chocolate has been collected, make everyone feel like a winner with some handmade trophies. They can say things like ‘Most Eggs’, ‘Fewest Eggs’ and even ‘Good Egg’
Golden Ticket
If you want to try something a little different from chocolate, you can get them to find the Golden Ticket, Willy Wonka style. It could be hidden inside a hollow egg, or simply somewhere in the garden or house. The lucky winner can then trade it in for a special prize of your choosing.
Redeemable Prizes
Similar to the Golden Ticket, create a selection of prize tokens to scatter around, whether in hollow eggs or in the shape of eggs. You can then have prizes/rewards to different values to suit your requirements, be it an edible prize for 1 token, or something like 15 minutes extra time before bed for 5 tokens.
Puzzle Piece Hunt
Create a puzzle with a hidden message and have the family find all the individual pieces. Once collected, they can put the puzzle together to receive their prize.
