My name is Fiona King and I run the ‘Leeds Migraine and Headache Support Group’ on Facebook. I have been suffering from Chronic Migraine for the last 4 years and my life has changed dramatically. Not only have I battled with the pain of migraine, but also with anxiety and depression, brain fog, fatigue, isolation, loss of identity and much more.
I have been following the journey of the ladies in the film for a while now, and I’m so excited to be able to organise a screening of their groundbreaking documentary, here in Leeds. In showing this movie I hope to educate those with and without migraine disease, break down some of the stigma associated with the disease and bring together local members of our community who may feel isolated and lack a connection with other migraine sufferers – as I do.
‘Out Of My Head’ is a film by Jacki Ochs & Susanna Styron. A filmmaker, seeking treatment for her daughter’s migraine attacks, discovers a confounding neurological disease and learns why a devastating condition, afflicting nearly a billion people worldwide, remains so deeply misunderstood.
