Roots of Inspiration Family Workshop at the Henry Moore Institute

August 25, 2022

Explore and celebrate Black hair with writer Tina Shingler and artist Kedisha Coakley at this workshop, part of The World Reimagined.

Join writer Tina Shingler and artist Kedisha Coakley for this special event as part of national project The World Reimagined. Including a gallery tour of our exhibition Lungiswa Gqunta: Sleep in Witness, a short talk and a printmaking activity, we’ll explore and celebrate Black hair and the stories, politics and grooming rituals associated with it.

You’ll explore the work of South African artist Lungiswa Gqunta and hear Tina Shingler’s ‘hairstory’, then be guided by artist Kedisha Coakley to make prints using synthetic hair.

Suitable for families with children aged 8+. This is an intergenerational workshop – we encourage creativity in all ages! Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. Please book places for adults and children.
