An action-packed themed weekend featuring the brave young warrior woman who became one of China’s greatest heroines.
Inspired by the Royal Armouries global collection, the Legends event season explores mighty and mysterious warrior legends from cultures around the world through storytelling, performances, combat demonstrations, music, film and activities for all ages.
- Little legends: Learn about the animals in the Chinese zodiac in this interactive storytelling session, 11am, Suitable for under 5s with parental supervision.

- Chinese calligraphy, Discover what your name means in Chinese and have it written in ink to take home (28 July only)
- Mulan, Disney’s animated classic tale celebrating honour, courage and a young girl’s quest to be true to her own heart will be shown at 11.45
- Swords of ancient China, Learn the secrets behind four thousand years of Chinese sword-making and handle a range of replica weapons.
- Explore the Oriental Gallery on a guided tour.
- Martial arts demonstration, Have-a-go martial arts sessions. Learn some sword and shield techniques as used by the Chinese Imperial Army.
