Follow the spooky skeletons trail around the estate and into the haunted house!
Dress up in your best Halloween costume and prepare to be scared as you explore the woods and seek out all of the skeletons who have made Lotherton their home.
A trail will be available to download or pick up when you visit, along with downloadable Halloween craft activities to do at home and share with us on social media.
Wildlife World is located within the grounds of Lotherton, and admission is included within your Lotherton entry ticket. It is a firm favourite with children, being a continued development of the original Bird garden which has been a part of the estate since the 1980s. Our mini Mumblers absolutely love watching the penguins play about, and get really excited to see the large owls!
The Hall was home to the Gascoigne family from 1825 to 1968, when they gifted the estate to Leeds. It is a fine example of Edwardian and Victorian design, and there is a new visitor route which takes you through the servants quarters and historic rooms. They will be dressed to impress for Halloween so you can really step back in time. You are not able to take pushchairs inside the Hall, but there is an allocated place for them outside under cover.
There are two main play areas at Lotherton, the adventure playground is a gated area to keep little ones contained. It holds both toddler equipment and a climbing frame for bigger children. On the adjacent grassed area is a woodland plat area with lots more to enjoy, including twin zip wires, swings and climbing frames. There are also picnic benches dotted about.
As you drive into the estate, look right to try and spot the large herd of red deer. Head up to the Deer Hide, in Autumn you’ll be able to watch (and hear!) the rut as the stag gathers the females together.
No trip out is complete without a cafe visit right? Whether it’s an ice cream , a cuppa and some cake, or something more substantial, the Cafe (situated in the Courtyard area) has something to tempt everyone. Why not take it outside and enjoy your treat on the picnic benches? The cafe is currently offering a limited menu.
At just 2km this is a perfect walk for little legs- but it does get very boggy and muddy in wet weather so you might want to avoid taking a buggy. Enjoy the gardens, the woodland walk, passing the Orchard and spotting the stone circle. More on this walk here.
