π Camp Bestival Dorset is based at the gorgeous setting of Lulworth Castle. It took us about 7 hours (!!) to drive down in a campervan, but if you’re looking for something closer, the sister festival Camp Bestival Shropshire is about 2.5 hours- so much better travelling time!
πThe family-friendly festival (and it really is a great, positive family atmosphere) runs Thursday- Monday, with the main entertainment Friday-Sunday. On the last evening after the headliner there is a spectacular fireworks display.
π Each year there’s a theme for the Saturday so the whole family can get dressed up and join in. This year was animal pairs and our children loved spotting different characters dressed up!
π The music is amazing, with something for everyone. The range is massive- from Ella Henderson to East 17, from Sam Ryder to Sophie Ellis-Bextor, from Craig David to the Kooks. It’s aimed more at parents, but there were enough of the big artists that the kids could join in too. Plus there were appearance from some of our kids favourites- Bluey and Hey Duggee came along!
π As well as the live acts, there is loads of other entertainment for both adults and kids! We loved the roller disco, the sandpits and mud kitchens, the rides (additional cost), and all the games for children to play! There were circus acts and storytelling, talent shows and even Mr Tumble made an appearance. There was never a dull monent and the children were constantly on the go!
π There is so much food and drink on offer, although we did try and keep our spending down by having a few meals at the campervan (last year we ate at our tent). We froze a pasta bolognese before we drove down, which had nicely defrosted and was ready to re-heat on the second day. We had hot dogs for lunch one day and tool plenty of snacks to keep the kids happy. You’re also allowed to take in your own alcohol which definitely helped with the budget (although who could resist a few cheeky cocktails).
π Slow motion is a “holistic arena dedicated to the delights of contemporary wellbeing”.Β As well as workshops and restorative classes, you could enjoy therapy sessions and treatments, as well as a wild spa!Β

Even though this was a gifted review, we can hand on heart say that we have had the best time there (for a second year running). I think next year we’ll possibly look to go to Camp Bestival Shropshire instead- it is a very long drive with kids forΒ a long weekend! Our friends tend to tag on a holiday on the South Coast somewhere- which is another great option!
