As the business celebrates 25 years, the Dawson family are reflecting on the personal journey they’ve been on to build their strong reputation for high quality childcare and early years education. Back in 1997, Lesley Dawson opened her first nursery after struggling to find the right childcare provider for her eldest of three sons. In the years since, Lesley has grown Children’s Corner Childcare to an impressive ten Nursery Settings, School Wraparound Care and Holiday Clubs. The family added to their Leeds portfolio with a brand new Harrogate Nursery last spring and have employed Apprentices and Qualified Practitioners from the area.
Although the company has expanded over the years, it is still very much run by the Dawson family. Managing Director Mattie said: “We are fortunate to be able to welcome the best Early Years Educators to a growing company with amazing career progression opportunities. By offering fully funded training opportunities and paths to grow professionally we are a unique offering for those in the Early Years sector in Yorkshire.” Children’s Corner Childcare are tackling the recruitment crisis head on, retaining current staff and supporting Apprentices through their childcare qualifications. A dedicated recruitment team are attracting new employees with a unique package.
Mattie continues: “Childcare is such a rewarding profession and we hope that by offering modern, well resourced and inspiring places to work we will create the best childcare settings with the best people working in them. Staff wellbeing and mental wellbeing is prioritised but we also offer opportunities unique to Children’s Corner such as the opportunity to visit our nurseries in Malawi, Africa through our charity Changing Stars Malawi.
Many of our dedicated Children’s Corner employees have been with the business for many years and have grown their careers and had their own families.
