Bring the kids on Saturday when there will be free entertainment, games, outdoor space, live music and street food. Under 12s enter for free.
Monday 6th May, 11am-4pm. On the pastures, Stone Brig lane.
Hosted by the Rothwell & District Carnival Committee. Join them for the Crowning of the May King & Queen, Maypole Dancing from 11.45, as well as petting farm, market stalls, face painting, donkey rides, fairground rides and Punch and Judy. Read more here.
National Coal Mining Museum
Throughout the day visitors will have the chance to view exhibits of fossils, minerals, and rocks, then see rock-cutting and polishing demonstrations and get the opportunity to have your favourite rock identified by experts.
Younger visitors can indulge their creativity with a host of hands-on activities including rock painting, sand painting and creating their own fossil from plaster at our Blacksmith’s. There’s also a fun fossil hunt from noon to 4pm at the sand pits and the chance to learn the art of rag rugging, using old scraps of material to create textiles.
