We are looking to recruit a Deputy Club Manager for our high quality before and after school childcare provision, working alongside a fantastic team of play workers in managing a safe and enjoyable Club for pupils aged 3 – 11 during term time.

As Deputy Manager, you’ll assist with planning the activities on offer and ordering any resources, ensuring food is ordered, stored, and served appropriately, and coordinating staff. You’d be directly responsible to the Club Manager, and able to work flexibly around the needs of the school as part of the wider staff team. You need to be confident about speaking to parents and managing a small amount of paperwork, as well as willing to engage in any necessary training and ongoing professional development required of the role. You’ll have a positive, can-do attitude, good organisational skills, and good communication skills.

At Primrose Lane we are fortunate that our school is set in extensive and beautiful grounds, surrounded by mature shrubs and trees, and enclosed with fencing to make the site a safe, interesting, and varied environment for children to learn and play. The Club opens Monday – Friday, 7.30-8.50am and 3.30-6:00pm, and is situated in ‘the bungalow’. The bungalow and surrounding field are sectioned off and designated for out of school provision. As manager, you’ll be responsible for the daily setting up the provision in order to cater for differing ages and interests, ensuring that all children from Nursery to Year 6 enjoy their time at the Club. Primrose Lane is an inclusive school, and we work hard to meet the needs of all the children who attend our setting. This commitment is true for all the families who are a part of our Club and as manager you’ll share in this ethos.

Discounted spaces are available for your own children if needed.

Hours:

After School Club 3.15-6.15pm. Monday – Friday, term time only, 38 weeks per year.

Club staff will be timetabled and so the number of days worked can be flexible.

If you are interested in the role but would need flexibility beyond the advertised hours, please do contact us – we are happy to discuss what would work for you. The most important thing is that we get the right person for the job.

Qualifications and experience:

• NVQ Level 3 qualification in Early Years/childcare/play work or equivalent

• Experience with Early Years and Primary aged children

• Qualifications or training in first aid and food safety would be an advantage but are not essential as this training will be given if necessary

This post will be temporary in the first instance with a view to being made permanent subject to a probationary period.

Applications

Applications will be vetted and shortlisted on receipt. Primrose Lane Primary School reserves the right to withdraw the advert early if a suitable candidate is found.

Closing Date: 12.00pm on the 22nd March 2024

Shortlisting 25th March 2024

Interviews will be held on the Wednesday 27th March 2024

Detecting and telling apart the emotions shown by the people around us is a crucial skill for our social lives. Our project wants to understand how the baby brain develops to detect and differentiate between different emotions expressed in the voice. By discovering how babies learn about others’ emotions, we hope to find out how to foster children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

If your baby is 1- to 5-months-old and you are interested to take part in this research please sign-up by filling in the Contact Card

The information you provide will be stored securely and will not be shared with anyone outside our team.

More information: Filling in the form does not mean you consent to participate. We will soon get in touch with more details about the project, and then you can decide whether you would like to schedule a research session at a date and time that suits you.

What does participation in the research involve?

Participating in this project involves one visit, lasting approximately one hour, to the University of York. During the research session, your baby will hear voices of other babies or of adults with different emotional intonations (e.g., happy, sad, angry). In order to record how the brain responds to these sounds, your baby will wear a special hat with sensors embedded in it (like the one shown in the picture).

Safe and secure research for babies: The hat is specifically designed for babies and it is comfortable to wear. The sensors are not harmful. They only capture the weak signal coming from the brain, in a similar way to the sensors present in smart watches for recording the heart activity. You will be with your baby at all times. Measures for social distancing and extra cleaning are put in place for Covid-19.

Thank you gift: Parents receive £10 to support the trip to the University of York and babies receive a small gift as a token of our appreciation for their help. We also provide free parking in case you decide to travel by car.

If you would like to find out more before signing up, contact us at: psychology-dsn-lab@york.ac.uk

We are looking forward to hearing from you!
