Take a step back in time from 21st July – 2nd September and unearth secrets from the land that time forgot at RHS Garden Harlow Carr this summer. Families can embark on a Jurassic journey around the garden on a daily garden trail, discover habitats rich in Jurassic plants such as ferns and monkey puzzle trees and meet pre-historic creatures including giant insects.
Watch out for dinosaur eggs, huge footprints and make sure you don’t step in the dinosaur poo! Visitors will be greeted by a 7ft willow stegosaurus made by North Yorkshire-based willow sculptors from Dragon Willow.
Other willow dinosaurs can be found hiding out in the woodland: look out for a huge diplodocus and see if you can spot the pterodactyl flying through the trees near the Craggle Top Treehouse. Budding palaeontologists can dress up as explorers and take part in a fossil dig to find dinosaur teeth, bones and claws.
A ‘Jurassic Timeline’ will take visitors from the Jurassic period to modern day – with facts and figures about the earth, plants and animals en route – and visitors will be encouraged to take a selfie in a climb-in dinosaur egg.
