Leeds Libraries under 5’s Ready Steady Readers programme is expanding with the launch of two brand new Story Buses named Nelly and Sam on Thursday 30th January 2020. We have been working closely with author and illustrator Nick Sharratt to design the inside and out of these buses using his wonderful and bright illustrations. We’ve also had the help of nearly 500 children across Leeds to decide their names using the characters from Nick Sharratt’s Book ‘Don’t Put Your Finger in the Jelly Nelly’.
At the Teddy Bears Picnic Storytime as part of our special launch event, 11am-1pm on Thursday 30th January, you’ll get to meet the incredible Nick Sharratt, be the first to explore the Story Buses Nelly and Sam and take a goody bag home!
Destination Imagination
Inside the buses you’ll discover a treasure trove of lovely books and fun activities. Our friendly staff team can help you choose books to borrow that will tickle every taste: fairytales and nursery rhymes, books to make you giggle, books to help you learn. Who knows where you’ll travel to on your journey of imagination…
The buses will be undertaking a taster programme between February and June visiting community locations and Children’s Centres across Leeds as well as popping up at community events and festivals during the school holidays.
