Christmas is always magical, but here are a few winter illuminations and festive light shows planned within easy reach of Leeds to help us make Christmas 2020 that bit more special- We all deserve it after such a rubbish year!
The award-winning Enchanted Forest comes to life after dusk as Stockeld Winter Illuminations.Dazzling light effects, a captivating soundscape and animated installations come together through almost a mile of beautiful, ancient woodland in our Enchanted Forest.
This event takes place from dusk and is open for all ages, from children to grandparents!

Come and enjoy an illuminated adventure at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate. Now extended to include the entire length of Streamside, Glow lights up winter nights with a touch of sparkle and magic.
Wander the enchanting trail around magnificent trees and shrubs and see some of Harlow Carr’s iconic features, including the Queen Mother’s Lake, Winter Walk and Kitchen Garden, glow with festive colour.
Wander through glowing ruins, under shadowy archways and hear music ringing through the cellarium this autumn. Join us to have an after-dark experience you won’t forget.
Watch as the night sky falls over the abbey and ruins start to glow with light.
There won’t be a choir this year but soak up the atmosphere as recorded music echoes throughout the ruins. It’s an experience you won’t forget.
Pick up a torch and come to explore the ruins of Fountains Abbey under the stars. Play your biggest ever game of hide and seek in all the corners of the shadowy ruins – there are lots of places to hide.

Discover a fantastical twilight adventure at Lightwater Valley this season with the enchanting Alice in Winterland Christmas Lights Trail. Illuminated by the dazzling magical lantern displays, this Christmas, Lightwater Valley will be home to Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Humpty Dumpty and many more of those Lewis Carroll’s childhood characters we all know and love.
This immersive Christmas lights trail is perfect festive fun for all the family, whatever your age. From a life-size chessboard with an Alice pawn to the iconic Mad Hatter’s tea party, there’s ways to get involved throughout the experience.
These giant illuminated light sculptures will illustrate stories from Alice in Wonderland and Alice through the Looking Glass. Watch the Mad Hatter prepare for his crazy tea party, marvel at a four-metre tall Alice lantern and come face to face with the infamous Queen of Hearts herself.
