Our Indian Crested Porcupines are a mother and her two sons. In the wild they can be found in habitats including tropical and temperate forest. Their diet consists mainly of plants, but they will eat small animals.
The male Argentine Black and White Tegu is native of the South American tropical rain forests and shrubland. The largest species of the ‘tegu’ lizards its diet includes small mammals, birds, eggs, reptiles, carrion, fruit and leaves.
The Pygmy Marmoset is the world’s smallest monkey. Our group consists of six males – a bachelor group. They are native to the tropical rainforest of South America and their long toes and claws allow them to cling to branches making them excellent at climbing.
Emperor Tamarins are a species of monkey found in the tropical rainforests of South America. They live in groups of 2-8 individuals and occupy the higher parts of the forest canopy, usually over 10m high. They are known for their long, exquisite moustaches.
Tropical World is one of the UK’s largest indoor tropical rainforest visitor attractions, a firm favourite in Leeds it has been welcoming visitors since it opened in 1988. A licensed zoo with membership of BIAZA, it is comprised of several climate-controlled glass houses, with seven zones each replicating a tropical environment from around the world. The exciting experience takes the explorer on a pathway of discovery through global tropical biomes, meeting lots of animal friends along the way.

Tropical World is open seven days a week all year round, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and is the ideal day out for both adults and children, with under 5s having free admission.
There’s plenty of free parking just a short walk away, and disabled parking is available on Princes Avenue just outside the entrance.
