We’re looking for families from all over Leeds to get involved in #WearACap for Leeds Mencap as part of Learning Disability Week – this June 17th to 23rd 2019.
It’s so easy to get involved! You can do it with your family, at your work place, school or with a community group? Get everyone to wear hats and make a donation!
Want to do a bit more? Why not get crafty and have a hat making competition? Host a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party? Use our Who’s hat quiz? Or sponsor your boss or head teacher to wear a wacky hat for as long as possible!

About Leeds Mencap
By getting involved and fundraising for local charity, Leeds Mencap, you’ll be playing an invaluable role in supporting families and children with learning disabilities across Leeds. There are enormous challenges for people with learning disabilities and their families and we are there to help every step of the way.
We run three youth and social clubs (ages 7 up to 25) along with school holiday playschemes to reduce isolation felt by young people who can’t access many groups safely and with the right support.
We help parents by giving them the knowledge, skills and support networks they need to be able to care for their whole family.
Our siblings support group (for ages 7 to 14) is for children who have a brother or sister with a learning disability – so they can have time to themselves, have fun and meet friends who understand their situation.
We also have a specialist playroom for children aged 0-3 with learning disabilities like Down’s syndrome and global development delay – providing expert support to both the child and parents at this crucial early stage.
