1. Create a Pancake Kitchen Role Play Area – put out some of the utensils you might use for making pancakes and print photos / set out the different ingredients used in making pancakes!
2. Flip the Pancake Memory Game– make a stack of ‘pancakes’ ideally out of card but paper will work as well. Draw letters, numbers or shapes on pairs of pancakes. (Depending on the age of your child, you may only want to do a few pairs). Turn all of the pancakes face down and shuffle them around. With your little one, take turns to turn two pancakes over at a time, trying to find matching pairs. Fun and educational!
3. Pancake Treasure Hunt – Cut out some paper pancakes and hide them around the house and garden (like an Easter egg hunt). Older children could have clues on the back of each one that leads them to the next.
4. Read Pancake themed Stories – Ideas include ‘The Runaway Pancake’, ‘Mr Wolf’s Pancakes’, ‘The Pancake King.’ You can find lots more ideas here.
5. What would you like on your Pancake – Draw or print some pancakes and children can have fun decorating them with the toppings they would like on their pancake!
