Serve Dad an all-star brunch
What better way to start the day than with a table full of all of Dad’s favourite brunch recipes?! Impress him with waffles, pancakes, eggs, fruit, coffee and fresh juice.
Have a family game night/afternoon
Let Dad show his competitive side with a selection of family friendly board games. Depending on the age range, some classics are Jenga, Charades, and Snap. Dobble is a family favourite for us and good for all age ranges as it’s essentially a slightly more advanced version of snap. One Night Warewolf and Exploding Kittens are also firm favourites for the older kids. Or you could even host a quiz night with questions specific to Dad!
Craft together
The whole family — including Dad — can explore their creative sides with fun family crafts. Plus, whatever you make can totally double as a great DIY gift for Dad! For the younger crafters, you can add tape to canvas or card, let the paints flow and once dry, find yourself with an artistic masterpiece. Or you can take this opportunity, if you haven’t already, to get all the families hand/food prints together to create something truly personal and one for the memory box! For more ideas, see our blog here.
Pack up a picnic
Now the rules have eased slightly, you could take this to one of your favourite outdoor spots. Many Attractions and Gardens that have re-opened require booking in advance. See our list here. Or you can simply have a picnic in your back garden. There are a few places providing Afternoon Teas/Yorkshire Mezzes’ for the special occasion so be sure to book in advance. Find our list of Home Delivery/Take Away Services here.
Pamper him with a spa day
Dads deserve some pampering, too! Turn your home into a relaxing spa complete with some candles and soothing music, then you or your kids can treat him to an at-home massage, facial (don’t forget the cucumber slices) and even a foot rub! My nieces and nephew absolutely love treating their dad to a day at the spa – with a treatment list and everything!
Go for a walk/hike
Depending on ability, enjoy the great outdoors as a family and explore new trails with beautiful sights! Let Dad choose the path and be ready to make amazing memories together. For ideas and inspiration check our listings here.
Watch a movie
Weather permitting, you can create either an indoor or outdoor cinema at home, complete with popcorn, and movie tickets. Dad gets to choose the movie (family friendly of course!). We have a roundup of family movies here if you need any inspiration.
Go to the beach!
Create your own beach in the back garden! Get your creative juices flowing, with a crazy golf course, fish and chip cart, ice cream van, and of course sand and sea!!! And don’t forget the obligatory comfy chair for Dad to sit in.
Go camping
Why not set up the tent in the back garden. Dad will love roasting marshmallows and telling scary stories around the ‘fire’. If you haven’t got a tent, you can always hire one. Check out Shuffles Entertainment bell tent hire here.
Dad vouchers
We’ve also come up with these downloadable vouchers (click on the link below) – print them off and colour them in – an ideal home made Father’s Day gift, and they can all be redeemed whilst still on lockdown!
